In Memorium: RJ Nebe
R.J.
Nebe, a well known figure in the Nebraska wrestling
community, died on March 18, 2007 from complications of leukemia
at the age of 41. A long time coach with Omaha Skutt
High School's wrestling program, R.J. helped lead the
Skyhawks to 8 consecutive Class B Championships until his
retirement from coaching in 2005. RJ was also the
popular color commentator on Nebraska State High School and
UNO Maverick Wrestling broadcasts. R.J. began his
scholastic wrestling career at Millard North and was a
two-time state placer for the Mustangs in 1982/83. He
went on to become a 5 time Division II All-American at UNO
from 1985-88 and finished second on the Maverick's all-time
win list with 153. He was also a Division I All
American at 177 lbs in 1988. In 1999 R.J. Nebe was
inducted into the
NCAA Division II Wrestling Hall of Fame. Please
