The MSD is in Danville, IL. on March 31, April 1 and 2nd. This is a highly competitive dual tournament. We took 1 team last year and finished 3th. To qualify to be on the dual team you must meet the following criteria:

  1. The first and foremost criteria will be placing first at the Nebraska USA State folk style tournament. This tournament is on March 12 at Grand Island, HS.

  2. Second criteria will be Huskerland duals on March 11 at Grand Island HS. This will be used if the wrestlers did not meet up at the state tournament because of age difference, such as novice vs schoolboy. If wrestler “A” defeats wrestler “B” at Huskerland duals and then wrestler “B” defeats wrestler “A” at the state tournament, then first criteria supersedes.  The only way to assure yourself a spot on the team is to be at the weight class you want to wrestle for the MSD....be at that same weight class for the State tournament.  See the link below for weight classes on the MSD website.  You may drop a weight class only if that spot is open.  You may also wrestle off at a lower weight class if you are within 3 pounds of that weight the day of the State tournament.  Example: Wrestler "A" weighs 85 lbs and is wrestling at the 85 lbs weight class.  Wrestler "B" weighs 88 lbs and is wrestling at the 90 lbs weight class.  Wrestler "B" may challenge for the spot at 85 lbs upon approval of the USA directors.  There is a possibility of 3 champions in one weight class.  Example: Novice 100, Schoolboy 100 and Cadet 98.  Interested wrestlers must come to the head table and let it be known that they want to be on the MSD team.  The USA directors may also require other wrestle offs as we deem necessary.  One example of this:  Wrestler "A" is in the cadet 98 lbs division (8th grader).....wrestler "A" places 2nd in that division losing to wrestler "B" (a freshman.)  This would be considered a legitimate wrestle off between the runner up in the cadet division versus the champion in the Schoolboy division.  The USA directors will determine whether a wrestle off is legitimate.  Example of a non-legitimate wrestle off:  Wrestle "A" is a 3rd place finisher in the Novice division 100 lbs.  The first and second place finishers in that weight class aren't interested in going to the Duals.  A wrestle off between wrestler "A" and the winner of the 98 lbs cadet division would not be considered a legitimate wrestle off.   All wrestle offs will take place at the state tournament.

  3. Cost per wrestler is going to be $225.

  4. You will need a USA card….this can be purchased at the state tournament.

  5. Please send me Name, address, telephone #, email address (very important), weight, notable accomplishments, and grade. See form below.

  6. Please send info ASAP so I have a good idea of who all wants to go. I will also need it so I can be watching for potential wrestle offs at state. I know I have had a lot of people email me with names, but now I need things in writing with parent’s approval. If you would like to scan and send as an attachment, that would be fine also. Team will be finalized by March 19th.

Thanks and hope to hear from you soon. Contact info: 402-685-6507, 402-685-6944, 402-380-1939 or alphasurveying@qwest.net
